0.1.0-alpha.10
Build 10. Fix optional double Shift and double Option peek gestures in the sandboxed app. Settings can request Input Monitoring registration and check permission again; existing Accessibility access remains supported. Gestures default to Off. Existing sheets, preferences and shortcuts are preserved.
0.1.0-alpha.8
Build 8. The reader and Settings use normal macOS window ordering. Active hold-to-peek temporarily brings the reader forward, then restores ordinary ordering on release or cancellation. Saved files and preferences are preserved.
0.1.0-alpha.7
Build 7. Set up optional double Shift or double Option gestures to peek at a sheet, with guided shortcut setup. Existing sheets and preferences are preserved.
0.1.0-alpha.6
Build 6. Reveal a sheet in Finder, open it in your default editor, or choose another application from the reader sidebar.
0.1.0-alpha.5
Build 5. Open structured JSON cheat sheets alongside Markdown. Sections flow into columns with larger, spaced and colored macOS shortcut symbols. Adjust reader text from 11 to 32 points and add fixed-size local PNG icons. Search, copying, Learning Mode and live reload work with both formats.
New examples include Git commands in Markdown and IntelliJ IDEA and Visual Studio Code shortcuts in JSON, with their official logos. The app also offers Brave, Xcode and Sequel Ace examples. Installing starters skips existing files.
Example files
Download the example library and choose the extracted folder in KeyCrumb. Keep the included icons folder beside the JSON files. You can also download individual sheets:
The IDE examples follow the documented macOS defaults checked on 20 October 2026. Custom keymaps, layouts and later versions may differ. Format checking validates structure, not shortcut accuracy. These independent references imply no vendor endorsement; see the logo sources and notices.
0.1.0-alpha.4
Build 4. Every reader entry point now opens one floating window with the sheet sidebar. Individual sheet pins still add their own menu-bar icons. The reader remembers its size and position, stays visible while you work elsewhere, and closes when you release the peek shortcut. Saved folder, sheet, text size, Learning Mode, pins and shortcuts are preserved, together with the attached folder-picker behavior from alpha.3.
0.1.0-alpha.3
Build 3. The folder picker now opens as a native sheet attached to Settings or the reader, keeping folder selection above its originating window. Repeated folder requests and reader shortcuts no longer interrupt an open picker. Cancelling keeps your current library and preferences.
0.1.0-alpha.2
Build 2. The second alpha exercises signed updates from alpha.1, including installation and relaunch while preserving your files, folder access and preferences.
0.1.0-alpha.1
Build 1. The first public alpha includes a local Markdown reader, folder selection, safe starter installation, search, pinned sheets, hold to peek and Learning Mode. Signed update checks use Sparkle; native telemetry is absent.
Installation and updates
- Open the DMG and drag KeyCrumb to Applications.
- Launch KeyCrumb from Applications and confirm the macOS first-open prompt.
- Choose your cheat-sheet folder. Starter installation does not overwrite existing files.
Use Check for Updates… in the menu or Settings. Automatic checks run daily when enabled; installation requires approval. Local reading remains available if an update check fails.
Per-sheet shortcuts, Intel verification, source publication, pricing and Mac App Store distribution remain deferred. See the free-alpha terms and privacy policy.
